Former residence of the barony of La Roche-Bernard, the castle of Bretesche takes place on the town of Missillac, in Loire-Atlantique. Medieval building built in the fourteenth century, it was completely rebuilt in the nineteenth, and is today the subject of an inscription to the Historical Monuments.
Formerly important center of Protestantism, the castle of Bretesche still seduces with its romantic and enchanting architecture, although it is unfortunately not visited from within. Indeed, the building is today a luxury hotel-restaurant surrounded by a charming 18-hole golf course. It is however possible to go through the outer courtyard to admire the surroundings classified as Historical Monuments.
