Located in the town of Mirabeau, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the castle of Fontenelle still proudly dominates the road to Digne-Sisteron which was taken by Napoleon I when he returned from Elba in 1815. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it still reveals itself today in the form of an impressive building with four towers, vaulted cellars or a beautiful park with a pond.
Private property which has undergone several restoration campaigns, it is unfortunately not accessible to the public. Not far away, however, it is possible to admire the Gothic oratory of the Tarelle farm which once depended on the castle and was to serve as a chapel for the former chatelains.
