Founded between 1016 and 1031 by King Robert the Pious, the college is listed since 1840 on the list that foreshadowing of Historical Monuments. The nave is 50 m long, with large arches and tall windows, reflects the Romanesque 11th century in Île-de-France. One can also observe the vaults of the 12th century and remarkable Gothic capitals, carved palmettes bouquets and sirens birds. The facade of the Renaissance period, was restored under François 1st.
The Notre Dame de Melun is also known for hosting the famous "Melun Diptych", painted by Jean Fouquet, 1450.
Opening times: Open Saturday and Sunday afternoons from June to September by Anoda and on guided tours organized by the Tourist Office.
