Inaugurated in 2011, this remarkable museum on Rue Lazare Ponticelli in Meaux is devoted entirely to the First World War. Located near the site of the first battle of the Marne, it helps visitors to understand the origins and history of the Great War, from 1870 to the post-war period.
The exceptional collection of a passionate and self-taught historian, Jean-Pierre Verney, is gathered here, with nearly 20,000 objects and 30,000 documents, including weapons, uniforms and everyday objects from the front and the rear guard.
The very well-designed exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time to understand our contemporary world, and to learn about the living conditions of men, women and children during the war.
