Charming little town in Haute-Loire, in the Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes region, Mazet-Saint-Voy takes place about forty kilometers from the very touristic town of Puy-en-Velay, on the eastern part of the Massif Central. It is located not far from Chambon-sur-Lignon, Champclause or Yssingeaux.
Populated since prehistoric times, as evidenced by megaliths and other tools found on site, the territory of Mazet-Saint-Voy was once known to be the most Protestant town in France. Strongly affected by the wars of religion, the town however developed despite royal repression through the cultivation of rye and oats.
The town where Albert Camus was born, one of the most important French authors of the 20th century, continues to attract visitors today thanks to its authentic setting and its rich history.
