Marly-la-Ville is a commune in the Val-d'Oise department, in the Île-de-France region, 16 km northeast of Gonesse.
Its territory of 8.6 km² located on the borders of the Oise belongs to the natural region of the Plaine de France, a plateau which extends to the north of the Seine-et-Marne and which is renowned for its grain crops.
In fact, the southeastern quarter of the locality still presents rural landscapes (cultures) and woods are still present to the west of the town.
The village developed in the Middle Ages. But it was not until the 1970s that the town experienced a demographic boom with the construction of Roissy airport (to the south) and the traffic of the A1 motorway, which links Paris to Lille and whose route runs along Marly-la-Ville at the 'East. The locality now has 5700 inhabitants. An activity zone dedicated in particular to logistics has been set up in the northeast of the town, and suburban housing has developed.
Halfway between the capital and the great forests of Chantilly or Ermenonville, the locality has preserved a pleasant living environment and its heritage and leisure offer deserve attention...
In terms of heritage, Marly-la-Ville has a site protected as historical monuments: it is the Saint-Etienne church, which was built from the 12th century (primitive Gothic) and the 13th (radiant Gothic). Composed of a six-bay nave with aisles leading to a polygonal apse, a saddleback bell tower (to the north), it belonged under the Old Regime to the Abbey of Hérivaux (in what is now Val of Oise). We notice the high bays of the nave, the two levels of windows of the apse and an architecture generally marked by the desire to offer an impression of elevation. Some specialists note an influence of Notre-Dame de Paris. The nave was given new vaults in the 15th century, woodwork was installed in the 18th century and the stained glass windows date from 1880. an edict of Louis XIV in 1697. Restored, the building does not lack nobility, raised on three levels including the second floor in the attic, in neo-classical style. Also worth mentioning are the Center school (which once housed the offices of the town hall) and the post office, both rue Gabriel Péri, typical of the architecture of the interwar period.
In the same street again, at the southern entrance to the city, you will notice the old water towers equipped with water-lifting machines, dating from the 1880s.
Finally, in addition to the houses of character in the center, let us note the farm of the Church, whose facade is equipped with a turret or the house of the XVIIIth century (classic style), rue du Colonel-Fabien, where resided the naturalist and physicist Thomas-François Dalibart (1709- 1778). A disciple of Buffon, he was also the first to prove that storm clouds carried electricity.
In terms of culture, the city has first-class equipment with the Espace Lucien Jean, which houses a 300-seat performance hall where plays, concerts, dance galas, among others. In addition, the hall hosts exhibitions. Information on +33 1 34 31 37 60.
As for the library, it regularly offers events (readings, meetings). Contact on +33 1 34 72 74 14.
In the town and the districts, wooded parks dedicated to walking also have playgrounds (Allende and Jean-Moulin parks). And for sports enthusiasts, there is a skate park, a sports hall or even tennis courts to be reserved with the club on +33 6 21 08 36 76.

In addition, a path from the village makes it possible to join the GR1 (whose route makes the "tour" of Ile-de-France over 540 km) at the level of the forest of Ermenonville, for example. Other loops run along the agricultural or wooded plots of the locality and head towards the Oise - Pays de France Regional Natural Park.
