Dedicated to the heritage of Haute Provence, the Salagon museum, in Mane, offers its visitors permanent and temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Several experiences are possible here, in particular thanks to the incredible ethnobotanical gardens. On more than six hectares, it is possible to discover 1700 plants grown in an incredible green setting. Educational tool and place of conservation, the place consists of a garden of scents with sensory path, a medieval garden, a garden of the noria, a garden of modern times and a garden of simple and village plants.
The Salagon Museum also houses a former priory listed as a Historic Monument with a Romanesque church with two naves featuring contemporary stained glass windows by Aurélie Nemours, a Renaissance dwelling and cobbled courtyards. Outbuildings for agricultural use from the 16th and 19th centuries complete the ensemble.
In the museum, the whole history of Haute Provence is open to visitors. Everyday objects of the peasants are visible there in order to enhance the past and current culture of the territory.
The Salagon Museum hosts a program for the general public, notably offering entertainment for the Night of the Museums, the Rendez-vous aux Jardins and the Heritage Days, as well as workshops, courses and conferences or even night visits to the gardens in summer.
