Small town of Haute-Vienne, on the borders of Creuse, Indre, Vienne, and Charente, Magnac-Laval takes place in Basse-Marche, about sixty kilometers from Limoges. It is located on the banks of the Brame, not far from Blanzac, Balledent and Droux.

Things to see and do

Barony, then duchy, the commune of Magnac-Laval has some beautiful vestiges of its illustrious past. While strolling in the heart of the city or its surroundings, you will be able notably to discover ramparts and a tower of XIVe century, the vestiges of the old medieval castle or the old college with its bulbous tower covered with chestnut shingles.

Dating from the Carolingian, the church is worth a visit with its stone bell tower and ancient doors.

The lapidary museum will be an opportunity to admire beautiful collections before going to the Children's Garden which reveals many varieties of plants and shrubs, as well as insect hotels.

Events and festivities

The market is held every Thursday morning.

Every Monday of Pentecost, it is possible to attend the procession Saint-Maximin which extends over fifty-four kilometers. Pilgrims leave the church at midnight on Sunday before returning on Monday at dusk.

Every year in October, the town organizes the Portes de la Limousine, an opportunity to discover many activities around the cow.
