Located in the heart of the historic Saint-Jean district of Lyon, in a 15th century mansion listed as a Historic Monument, the Gadagne museum opened its doors in the first half of the 20th century.
Entirely restored in 2009, the Hôtel Gadagne invites its visitors to discover the collections of the two museums of Lyon history and puppetry arts. The first reveals all the mysteries of the city, ranging from the capital of Gaul to the 21st century, identifying all aspects of the city (economic, social, political, cultural, etc.).
Labeled Museum of France, the museum of puppetry arts presents more than 2000 puppets from all over the world. Visitors can also admire more than a thousand sets, costumes, accessories, programs and other manuscripts. Activities are offered throughout the year: workshops and events for children, themed guided tours, shows…
To make the most of sunny days, you can stroll through the gardens of the Gadagne museum. On the spot, archaeological excavations have made it possible to find the whole history of the place, a veritable green setting. You can also see cool caves and a fountain designed in the 17th century and redesigned in the 21st.
