Loudéac is a town of Cotes d'Armor in Brittany. Seventh city of the department in terms of population, it is just a minute trentaines St. Brieuc and about forty-five minutes from Vannes and Lorient. Ideally based in the heart of Brittany, it allows to go easily to discover this tourist area.

Simple go hunting in the forest of Brocéliande, Loudéac became a true city in the course of the eleventh century. Long in the hands of the Dukes of Rohan, the city was once famous for its fairs and markets. Today Loudéac is popular among tourists for its perpetual animation, its important cultural life, as well as for its historical and architectural heritage.

Fleurie, the city also received three flowers in the competition of cities and flowered villages, bringing a bit of greenery in this city of typically Breton architecture.

Things to see and do

Rich in architectural heritage, the city of Loudéac impression with its significant religious sites feature of Brittany.

Many chapels along the route of the visitors when they leave to explore the streets of Loudéac. The town offers visitors a booklet on the history and heritage elements of these chapels. It is available at the Tourist Office or the Town Hall. In summer a Chapels circuit is also set up with signs, in order to appreciate the peculiarities and anecdotes about these nuggets of Breton architecture. Visits are also organized regularly, and exhibitions are offered at various times of the year in some of the chapels. Thus, visitors are sure to discover the Notre-Dame-des-Vertus 1878, the Hospital of the chapel from 1785, the chapel of Saint-Maurice in 1779, the chapel of Saint-Cado 1930 Chapel St. -Guillaume 1722, the chapel of Menec or the chapel of Parpareux.

At the heart of the city of Loudéac, St. Nicolas church has a beautiful blue stone Breton architecture. One can also admire the town hall from the early twentieth century, and the former district court that dates from 1845.

Forest Loudéac, important of 2500 hectares, is one of the favorite places to walk for locals and visitors discover the city. There are marked trails are installed, as are picnic areas.

Events and festivities

City Loudéac offers a number of important throughout the year animations to entertain its visitors and its inhabitants.

Loudéac The weekly market takes place every Saturday morning in downtown. A Christmas market is also installed in the streets of the city in December.

Every year in March, the city of Loudéac organizes his passion Loudéac, just before Easter, in the Saint-Nicolas church and in the streets of the city.

Horse races take place at Easter.

The lounge Loudéac of the book takes place each year in May, with many authors from signing autographs.

Wednesday from Loudia in July and August, allow visitors to attend traditional Breton music. While in August the horse festival fills the city of entertainment of all kinds.

In October, Loudéac organizes its festival, Fest'in Breizh, to discover the Breton culture.
