Lorient, city of art and history, preserves in its prestigious name the memory of distant epics of the East India Company. It is famous for its maritime history, nautical dynamism, its roads, its Interceltic festival. Rebuilt after World War II according to the architectural model years 1956 to 1960, Lorient stands today as a city full of attractions, modern, lively and warm.

Lorient is the city to five ports: military port, marina, fishing port (2nd in France), the commercial port, passenger port. The former basic reconversion submarines integrates a center "off course" and in 2008 opened the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly: it is the sixth port Lorient.

A little history: The East was born in 1666, when the East India Company, founded by Colbert in 1664, moved to Port Louis.

Its gastronomic specialties are related to the sea, including the Cotriade (flat fish and potatoes), langoustines, lobster...
