Former Carthusian Monastery located at Lochieu, in the Ain, the Arvières Charterhouse now only presents ruins to its visitors. Classified as a Historical Monument, the site is located on the slopes of the Grand Colombier, 1200 meters above sea level and was built in the twelfth century by order of Amédée III of Savoy.
Today, no more remains of the building sold after the French Revolution at the end of the eighteenth century, as the foundations of the monastery and the Notre-Dame church.
