Municipality of the Rhône, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Limas takes place about thirty kilometers from Lyon, in the Villefranche-Beaujolais-Saône agglomeration community. Bordering Villefranche-sur-Saône, it is located not far from Pommiers, Lacenas or Beauregard.
Occupied since Celtic times, the territory of Limas developed in the Middle Ages, becoming the seat of an ecclesiastical lordship of the abbey of Cluny. Mainly focused on agriculture, the town had in particular in the 18th century a large number of vines which then made its reputation.
Always very dynamic, the town continues today to attract visitors because of its proximity to some of the most beautiful cities in the region, but also its architectural heritage and its green spaces which have earned it two flowers in the competition of towns and villages in bloom.
