Catholic place of worship located in Les Combes, in the Doubs, the cave-chapel of Remonot is now listed in the Historical Monuments. Subject of an important pilgrimage every August 15, for the Assumption, it was used since the seventh century by hermits who evangelized the Haut-Doubs.
The cave-chapel of Remonot takes place at the foot of a cliff and reveals a charming little bell tower in copper. Its forecourt is partly covered by the cave, and we can see in its interior a high altar of Art Deco style. Since the 15th century, it has also welcomed a Virgin of Mercy.
At the bottom of the cave is the source of the Gesambrune. The latter was once known for its virtues. It sometimes causes partial floods on the spot when it is flooded.
