Small mountain village Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Le Vernet takes place at 1210 meters above sea level, between Blanche and Bes. At the limit of the mountain pastures of the Grande Montagne and Ubac, it is located about thirty kilometers from Digne-les-Bains, not far from Barles, Montclar and Marcoux.
Populated since antiquity by the Bodiontiques, the territory of Le Vernet is mentioned as a commune from the eleventh century. With a consulate in the thirteenth century, it is illustrated during the French Revolution with its patriotic society created at the end of 1792. She has since known a fairly quiet history and now attracts visitors passing through its authentic landscapes and modest heritage architectural.
