Chantepérier is a village of 39; Isere, in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region, 65 km south-east of Grenoble (by road).
The town was officially created on January 1, 2019, following the merger of the villages of Chantelouve and Périer.
The vast territory of 91 km² is medium and high mountain, ranging from 815 to 3023 m altitude.
On the edge of the Écrins Regional Nature Park, in the heart of the Oisans Massif, Chantepérier, where there are only about 220 inhabitants, still has a few farms. But the locality will delight especially lovers of green tourism, with many hiking opportunities, in summer, but also the ski resort of Ornon Pass, in winter, the family, whose area also covers part of the municipality Ornon.
Proud to be crossed by the 45th parallel north, which places it equidistant from the North Pole and the terrestrial equator, the old village of Chantelouve has preserved some interesting heritage. This is the case of the Chapel of Siauds, and the neighboring oven, but also the old presbytery and its park, which houses an old oven and mills punctuating a set of canals.
In terms of sports and nature activities, the resort of Ornon Pass is ideally dedicated to a family audience. As for alpine skiing, the "Plan du Col" area has a ski lift serving two green runs and a space reserved for learning and the "Hauts du Col" area offers a green run, a runway blue, 2 red and 2 black runs served by two ski lifts.
Nordic skiing enthusiasts are not forgotten with 4 marked trails totaling 20 km of course through the forest. A circuit dedicated to snowshoeing is also marked.

Always on the old town of Chantelouve, other hikes allow to discover a preserved nature and sites of interest on the landscape plan (like the lake of Vallon with 2500 m of altitude) or in term of geology.
At the level of the former village of Périer, we discover with interest the remains of the 13th century castle and a 19th century church.
But it is here again for its preserved environment that hikers will be happy to meet you. Among the points to register on a course, the site of exploitation of the spring water of Valécrin or the waterfall of Confolens.
