Fort of Tourneville

Monument in Le Havre

Fortification of the city of Le Havre, in Seine-Maritime, Fort Tourneville was built in the mid-nineteenth century. Decommissioned in 1880, he has allowed the city to resist attacks Prussian War of 1870.

Military Wasteland, Fort Tourneville was bought by Le Havre in the late 1980s to become a true cultural wasteland open to the public. On more than seven hectares, it is possible to have access to more than thirty associations and discover particular, the municipal archives or scientific library of the Museum of Natural History.

Side of the site, artists have access to several rehearsal rooms or in an educational scene, the Tube, which takes place in a former ammunition store.
