Le Gosier is a city of the department of Guadeloupe, the third most populated island. It is located on Grande-Terre, near Pointe-à-Pitre, Abymes and St. Anne. Le Gosier is named Pelican was called in the seventeenth century, large-Gousier.

The town of Gosier is now the most important resort of the whole Guadeloupe, thanks to its marina of 1200 rings and its casino. Attractions to discover in the city are not lacking, and the beaches are popular with tourists from around the world.

Things to see and do

Little paradise, the resort town of Gosier dream by turquoise waters, white sand beaches and historic sites to discover while walking in the city.

Le Gosier home to the largest aquarium in the Caribbean, the aquarium of the marina. Created in 1985, it is the most visited museum of the Guadeloupe with its 80 species of fish and 50 species of coral. A Ecotour is also available to visitors to discover the mangroves and the coral reef.

Built in 1759 to defend against English attacks, the Fort Fleur d'Epee is the largest fortification of Grande Terre. Listed historical monument, overlooking the Bay of Gosier. Further, the dreary Union, the fort Louis meanwhile protects the marine Petit Cul-de-sac. Built in 1692, it was classified as an historic monument.

But it is mainly the dream beaches that attract tourists in Gosier. Near Pointe-à-Pitre, they are numerous, whether appointed or not: the beach in Grand Baie, the beach of Bas du Fort, the Hotel Pointe de la Verdure, artificial beach Anse Tabarin, the municipal beach of Dacha facing the islet of Gosier, the beaches of Dampierre, St. Felix, of Salinas, very popular with windsurfers, or that of the cove shaded by Jacques a nice coconut grove.

The islet of Gosier faces, a few hundred meters to the beach of Dacha. Coral island, it is protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral.

Walking through the city, one can discover a commemorative stele of the abolition of slavery, the source of Tom Thumb, or a coastal path from St. Felix to the Salines beach.

The landscaped grounds of Calvary that overcomes the range of Dacha, and the casino are also essential during a stay in Gosier.

Events and festivities

Every Friday evening, on the heights of the city, offers Le Gosier night market from 17h. We discover the stands of local produce and crafts.

In June, up to Gosier Gospel Festival. For the occasion, the city offers concerts and conferences and thematic debates. The boating festival also takes place in June with various events.

The Gullet main festival runs from late July to early August with football competitions, shows, attractions and other entertainment.
