Located in an old wine valley, the town of Laxou was already occupied during the Merovingian period. Occupied by the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem from the beginning of the 12th century, it developed at that time under the bosom of the Dukes of Lorraine. Once known for its vineyards, the town also developed its quarries and iron mines until the 20th century.
