Rots

Listed building, the church of Saint-Ouen Rots was built in the course of the twelfth century. Many times altered over the centuries, it has such a tower with a first floor of the twelfth, a second and a third of the fourteenth fifteenth. Mainly Romanesque style, the building has a particularly beautiful half relief of the eleventh century listed historical monument as an object.

Located along the road of Bayeux Castle Rots seduced by its nineteenth-century buildings and incredible park of thirty hectares. Passing through the old town, you can also explore the tithe barn sixteenth century, the old wash house, the chapel of the Ortial the thirteenth century, the church Saint-Germain which there remain some vestiges Merovingian or home Head of the Ox, a firm which would have allowed time for a step on his journey to Cherbourg King Louis XVI.

Cited in the second half of the thirteenth century, the church Saint-Pierre Lasson has a bell tower and listed historic monument and a beautiful statue of St. Peter the fifteenth century classified as an object. Mainly Romanesque style, it has undergone several changes over the centuries. The town of Lasson is also appreciated for its Renaissance castle. Ranked historic monument, the building of the sixteenth century reveals several eardrums carved on its exterior facades.

It also classified historic monument, the Church of St. Sulpice of Secqueville-en-Bessin yet today unveiled a nave of the eleventh century. Originally dependence of the Saint-Etienne Caen, it has many similarities with it. It still houses numerous Romanesque elements. The town also has a British military cemetery from World War II with 117 graves of soldiers killed in the Battle of Normandy.

• The suffering and horrors of the Second World War have left their indelible imprint on our memories, turning the world into a veritable puzzle to be repaired. It took the Caen-based Archives des victimes des conflits contemporains a year to untangle this historical chaos and mount the exhibition devoted to the repatriation of prisoners and deportees to France at the end of the Second World War.

• The play was written by American author Mike Jankowitz in 2007. The reading will be given in English by an ensemble of a dozen actors (with French subtitles shown on a screen), in the presence of the author. This will be a first for Europe and France, as the play has so far only had one public reading in Canada and a second in New York. The play tells the story of the Battle of Putot-en-Bessin, the day after D-Day in 1944, and explores the long-term effects of "the ghosts of war" on Canadian veterans who survived many years later. The play is the fruit of numerous interviews conducted by the author with Canadian veterans who landed, their families and other witnesses, as well as research carried out in the field. In this sense, it is both a poignant historical testimony to the events, and more broadly a universal reflection on what war does to men and women. - Synopsis : - "Only The Dead" looks back at the defense of the village of Putot-en-Bessin by the Canadians on June 8,1944, which resulted in the capture and murder of many of these young soldiers by the 12th SS Panzer Division. The events are recounted in flashbacks, through the post-war memories of several surviving Canadian veterans, who reveal the deep psychological scars left by their painful victory over the Nazis. The aim of the play is not only to convey the experience of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles regiment, but more generally to enable the spectator to imagine and feel what all the Canadian and liberation troops who took part in D-Day went through. The play lasts around two hours.
