Small town of Calvados, Normandy region, Rots takes place about ten kilometers from Caen and its ducal castle. This new town created on 1 January 2016 from the merger of Rots, Lasson and Secqueville-en-Bessin is located at the gates of the Bessin, near Bayeux, Creully or Tilly-sur-Seulles.

Land steeped in history, the Norman town was known in particular human occupation from the Gallo-Roman, as evidenced by some remains found there.

Today Rots continues to attract visitors passing through its location, ideal for discovering the charms of Normandy, and its rich architectural and historical heritage.

Things to see and do

Listed building, the church of Saint-Ouen Rots was built in the course of the twelfth century. Many times altered over the centuries, it has such a tower with a first floor of the twelfth, a second and a third of the fourteenth fifteenth. Mainly Romanesque style, the building has a particularly beautiful half relief of the eleventh century listed historical monument as an object.

Located along the road of Bayeux Castle Rots seduced by its nineteenth-century buildings and incredible park of thirty hectares. Passing through the old town, you can also explore the tithe barn sixteenth century, the old wash house, the chapel of the Ortial the thirteenth century, the church Saint-Germain which there remain some vestiges Merovingian or home Head of the Ox, a firm which would have allowed time for a step on his journey to Cherbourg King Louis XVI.

Cited in the second half of the thirteenth century, the church Saint-Pierre Lasson has a bell tower and listed historic monument and a beautiful statue of St. Peter the fifteenth century classified as an object. Mainly Romanesque style, it has undergone several changes over the centuries. The town of Lasson is also appreciated for its Renaissance castle. Ranked historic monument, the building of the sixteenth century reveals several eardrums carved on its exterior facades.

It also classified historic monument, the Church of St. Sulpice of Secqueville-en-Bessin yet today unveiled a nave of the eleventh century. Originally dependence of the Saint-Etienne Caen, it has many similarities with it. It still houses numerous Romanesque elements. The town also has a British military cemetery from World War II with 117 graves of soldiers killed in the Battle of Normandy.

Events and festivities

A summer festival is proposed Lasson last week of June.

Every second Sunday of November, Lasson welcomes strides Mue.

A Christmas market is held in December.
