Languidic is a city of Morbihan in Brittany, twenty kilometers northeast of Lorient. There are nearly 7600 inhabitants.

Its extensive communal territory (that is in terms of the largest area of ​​the department) allows him to count a remarkable natural heritage, particularly through long towpath of 18 km along the river Blavet, north of the town.

Agricultural activity (more than a hundred farms still in operation) and the food industry are the pillars of the local economy, the near Lorient also making Languidic a residential town.

Things to see and do

Hikers (walking or cycling) are spoiled Languidic where four marked trails run through the vast municipal area, excluding the towpath which borders the Blavet.

The ability to breathe deeply in a wooded and green landscape but also a better understanding of flora and fauna have been ranked in area of ​​ecological interest which shall cover the wet areas and marshes near the river.

It is also the most enjoyable way to travel the many hamlets and deviations which were built more than a dozen chapels, some of which are now classified (additional inventory). This route, we will leave the St. Peter church in the village, rebuilt in the nineteenth on the site of two older buildings. In the village, still, the chapel Our Lady of the Flowers, late Gothic (XV), was listed as a historic monument.

He must then go in different hamlets to admire the chapels whose polychrome statues are classified: as Kergohanne Saint-Jacques chapel (seventeenth and eighteenth centuries), not forgetting his ordeal and his fountain of devotion. But also Kernec, the Notre-Dame-de-Becquerel and Saint-Maur (sixteenth and seventeenth centuries), to Penhoët St. Trémeur chapel (1897) and in the hamlets which they gave their name, the chapel of Saint Étienne (seventeenth century) and St. John's chapel (XVII).

A Tréauray, St. Abibon chapel (fifteenth and seventeenth centuries) and its stained glass dating from 1588 is also worth visiting, as finally St. Urlo chapel that hosts an altarpiece and other objects classified...

In another genre, even older, the menhirs of Kersolan date to about 3000 BC... He is also a classified site.

In the city itself, finally, besides a few old houses, one of which, dating from the fifteenth, has a protected and listed facade, the media space and arts opened in 2005 is worth a look. Events and festivities

Odd years, the biennial arts festival "In our villages" (late May or early June), organized in a different village each edition offers a host of shows and workshops covering all the arts (music, dance, theater, painting, photography...). Information +33 2 97 65 19 19.

In mid-July, an association organizes every year in the village of traditional Breton Noces, with parade, music and folk entertainment.

Every first weekend of August, the feast of menhirs on the megalithic site of Kersolan attracts tourists and local public over three days: flea market, traditional games Breton, costumed performances (Gallic, Celtic), balls, concerts succeed.

In a completely different note, gourmets have an appointment to the market, in the heart of the city, every Friday from 8 to 13h. The opportunity to discover the specialties of the local terroir since Languidic part production areas of "cider Britain", the "Buckwheat Britain" and "Chicken Kingdom" that benefit from the Protected Geographical Indication.
