City of Bouches-du-Rhône, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Lançon-Provence is located in the city of Aix-Marseille-Provence. Bordering Eguilles and Salon-de-Provence, it takes place at about thirty kilometers from Aix-en-Provence.

Very old, the city of Lançon-Provence, often called also Lancon de Provence revealed the dwelling traces dating from prehistoric or protohistoric. Oppidum during the Roman invasion, it is mainly oriented towards the production of olive oil from the eighteenth century. The territory, occupied mainly by olive trees at this time, is now surrounded by residences.

Lively, the town is the origin of festive celebrations and playful that attract many visitors each year. Its architectural and historical heritage also passionate lovers of archeology and ancient stones.

Things to see and do

City Lançon-Provence and its historic center full of interesting sites to discover during a stay in the area.

At the center of the old town, one can discover the remains of the castle of the Lords of Baux. Dating from the twelfth century, it was once surrounded by a wall with square towers. We can still admire the remains of three walls, or the tower known as Queen Jeanne with his defensive system by battlements.

The Saint-Cyr church and St. Julitta date most of the sixteenth century and features typical architecture of this part of Provence. It was classified as an historic monument.

Walking through the historic center, visitors enjoy the medieval streets of Marone area, or the house of the Templars, also known as Hotel du Luxembourg, which has a beautiful Renaissance style of the sixteenth century. Hotel des Foresta, classified as an historic monument, is a marvel.

Lovers of culture and history do not will miss the archaeological exhibition hall to admire the site Coudouneu, or the House of Arts and Traditions Provençales in which we discover a reconstructed interior of the late XIXth century.

The Constantine Salluvian site worth visiting to Lançon-Provence, which is interested in ancient or not. Built in the second century BC, it is the largest Celtic-Ligurian oppidum of all Provence. It has also been included in the inventory of Historical Monuments.

Events and festivities

The market is held every Tuesday morning throughout the year. One Sunday in June, the city also offers a world market and create several animations. A Christmas market takes place at the end of the year with a craft fair Santon. A market creators is also proposed in October.

The feast of olives, vines and terroir is organized every year in May.

Filmed over theater, Roquilles festival offers performances in July.

In October the regional competition of amateur desserts attracts many curious.

Beautiful and Good Lancon is a festive event taking place by October. For the occasion, the city offers tastings, cooking workshops, or even games for kids.

At the end of October, the festival's Motor can admire beautiful mechanical appliances.

In November, the marathon Base knows a route that extends partly on Lançon-Provence.
