The town of Lamontjoie is located 20 km south of Agen on the Agen-Condom axis. We are in Lot-et-Garonne, in the very south of the department and therefore very close to the Gers (2 km).
The bastide of Lamontjoie was founded by Philippe Le Bel, Seneschal of Agenais in 1298. Dominantly placed, the village is structured around a square square.
Its Saint-Louis church, listed as a historical monument, is the pride of its inhabitants. Relics of King Saint Louis have been placed there for centuries and still justify the passage of pilgrims to Saint Jacques de Compostela. It also conceals a hunt of great beauty and of inestimable value according to archaeologists.
Every summer, it's a party in the village: Thursday at 7 p.m., local producers offer their gastronomic specialties: seasonal fruits and vegetables, snails, foie gras, duck breasts, Brulhois and Buzet wines, Armagnac. In front of the former convent of the Poor Clares, tables are made available to residents and tourists in order to enjoy the musical entertainment which is a delight for young and old alike.
