Beaumont-du-Périgord, an English-born country house located in South-West France, in Aquitaine, south of the Dordogne, in Dordogne, was founded in 1272 by the Seneschal of Guyenne, Thanay Lucas, on behalf of the King England, Edward I.
Its name comes from the Occitan "bèl Mount", "a beautiful climb" (built on a steep hill with a strategic vision 360 °) and the name of a former province of Périgord. Also, in the Middle Ages, it bore the name of Belmont Périgord.
