- His history :
- The oldest parts either cite stronghold Baudouvin or Baldwin. It was actually the fief of Mr. Baudouin whose name is Baudouvin Provencal. The estate is mentioned for the first time in 1437.
- Good King René, Count of Provence, authorized the donation of the castle of La Valette and domain Baudouvin that depended on it, to ELEON of Glandevès, Lord of the Guard. The act stipulated that this noble land contained abundant sources (Horts, Foux) and that it stretched from Mount Coudon Sollies-Ville.
- Gaspard Thomas, Baron de la Garde, sold October 18, 1612, to Claude Cabasson, Esquire of Valletta, the stronghold of Baudouvin. The Cabasson kept this area for a long time that passed from Rippert to the wedding White Cabasson with noble Jacques de Rippert, Lord of Revest.
- In 1785, the great house was demolished by Samson of Calabro and replaced by the present castle. The terroir of Baudouvin was gathered and incorporated into the town of Valletta to do with it one and the same land, July 21, 1791.
- The area in the nineteenth and twentieth century:
- In the nineteenth century, the estate became the property of Mr Bénet whose niece, Martha Bénet wife of Felix Vincent, became heir.
- Henri de Rothschild became the owner in October 1926, and thanks to Mr. Bonnefoy, skilled horticulturist and manager of the estate, Baudouvin is covered with vegetable gardens, orchards and vineyards.
- As of March 24, 1942, the castle then became the residence of the maritime prefect until 1986, when the city of Valette-du-Var became the owner.
- Baudouvin today:
- The layout of the gardens of Baudouvin results from the desire of Senator-Mayor of La Valette-du-Var Christiane Hummel, who designed and worn with conviction. This ambition is now possible to highlight a major part of the heritage of the city.
- At all times, Valletta was a land of gardeners - watercress, strawberries and lemons that supplied ships on long-term - and the tradition of the gardens is still vivid in the valettoise identity.
- The city has an active policy in this direction by multiplying the parks and gardens scattered across its urban territory. Many events also contribute to this tradition: Week gardens in April, Tales & Gardens.
- Note that Valletta in 2007 was invited to present an ephemeral garden of his creation (A different garden) in the autumn exhibition of the Senate. 30,000 visitors from France and abroad, and applauded the work of Valettois gardeners.
- Baudouvin is also an important crossroads of Rendezvous in the gardens. The great invitation in June by the Agglomeration TPM does not fail to enjoy the sumptuous surroundings offered by the area.
- Thousands of visitors (re) discover this place so full of history, full of cultures who built and still feed. The layout finalized today provides the inhabitants of the agglomeration, an object of preferred walk and a base capable of developing initiatives around the large garden of the tradition...
- Baudouvin The project is part of the continuity of these actions. The estate is today, following an ambitious surrounded by the best skills - Michel Racine in philosophy of the place and the landscape Aleppo Cabinet headed by architect Philippe Deliau for its realization - become the emblem of gardens and Valettois a living testimony of the art of the garden in Provence. A copy that fully deserves his garden Garden Remarkable label!
- Tradition and modernity Alliance:
- Baudouvin large country house which keeps the brand identity and creates the soul of the area. It also keeps its first frame with boxwood parterres, its Tese, its ponds and majestic trees.
- If the squares are added vegetable gardens, terraced gardens and citrus orchards that benefit from the most efficient technologies in water and energy.
- Water, abundant and regular in valettoise earth, remains a source of wealth and lives in the heart of the new domain. Today it is used with scholarly precautions.
- The project rehabilitates existing channels and creating new ones to store water and use prudent irrigation. The system combines the gravity water and recycled water in a closed circuit in order to further benefit the dry season. The gardens of the world are furrow irrigated with valves connected to the basins, drip or micro sprinkler from underground pipes.
- The lower part of the site focuses on crops dry, by staging the rustic fruit varieties such as olive trees, fig trees, vineyards and cereals. The goal is to gather Fruit characteristics of Provençal orchard. Completed just in one year, the development of Baudouvin is offered to the public today.
