La Tour-sur-Orb

Located at the foot of Mount Muratou, the Saint-Cyr-et-Sainte-Julitte church now benefits from an inscription in the Historic Monuments. Built in the 12th century and then modified in the 16th century, it has retained its elegant bell tower from its origins. Entirely in locally extracted red sandstone, this Romanesque bell tower has three levels separated by stone cords. The rest of the building, more recent, reveals facades coated with pink plaster and consists of a single nave and a flat 13th century chevet. But it is especially for its magnificent cloister that the church is appreciated. Listed as an historic monument, it consists of a courtyard surrounded by walls pierced with semicircular arcades. Above, a gallery is elegantly revealed, covered with a frame supported by polygonal columns with cubic capitals.

Also listed in the Historic Monuments, the residence of the abbots of Joncels dates from the middle of the 17th century. The building which today houses the town hall services in its western wing still reveals very beautiful vaulted rooms, a main door with a matching boss frame or a beautiful staircase with a banister with four creeping balusters.

While strolling in the village, you will be able to also appreciate the old lime kiln of the XIXth century listed in the Historic Monuments, the church of Clairac with its statue of the Virgin and the Child of the XVth century or the magnificent 12th century choir of the church of Boussagues.

At the beginning of August, activities are offered during the local festival.

The Arts and Crafts Festival takes place in September.
