Additional information
La Roque-Gageac

The village of La Roque-Gageac, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, is nestled between the cliffs and the Dordogne. It enjoys a microclimate, almost Mediterranean, with its southern exposure.

La Roque-Gageac and its inhabitants, the Laroquois, reserve you a warm welcome every year in this country of fine dining.

Things to see and do

La Roque-Gageac aligns the white and ocher facades of its houses. Many small alleys lead to the foot of the cliff, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the river.

Next to the church halfway up the cliff and thanks to this natural solarium, an astonishing exotic garden flourishes made up of palm trees, banana trees, agaves, fig trees, cacti, bamboo...

By extending your walk, you will discover the manor of Tarde, a vestige of the Renaissance which still dominates the heart of the village.

To discover the village from the river, the best way is to board the famous barges. These traditional flat-bottomed boats, once used to transport goods along the Dordogne. The majority of barges navigating on this part of the river, were only going down it because they were dismantled on arrival to be sold as firewood. For a boat trip, two companies on site, open from April to November: Gabarres Norbert and Gabarres Caminade.

Guided tour from June to September every Monday at 10:30 am.

Exotic garden (free visit).

Bamboo garden, free visit from April to October, every day except Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.
