Erected in the 12th century in the town of La Roche-Chalais, in the Dordogne, the church of Saint-Michel-de-Rivière has retained from its origins a very beautiful façade in the Saintonge Romanesque style which has earned it its inscription in the Historic Monuments. Visitors can in particular admire very beautiful modillions as well as sculpted scenes.
Formed by an elongated rectangle, the church of Saint-Michel-de-Rivière, ruined by the wars of religion, has however retained the beginnings of ribs in the choir dating from the 15th century. It is also possible to discover a side portal from the 17th century as well as an apse rebuilt in the 16th century.
