La Loupe

Located in the city center, the castle of La Loupe dates from the second half of the 17th century. Built by Marshal de La Ferté on the plans of Vauban, it still reveals today a large main building. The site houses exhibition halls as well as the city's music school.

Located not far away, the large oak tree takes place a few hundred meters from the railway line. The only remnant of the wood that surrounded the thousand-year-old castle, it would have, according to legend, replaced a thousand-year-old druidic oak. Planted at the time of the Crusades, it has long housed a statuette of the Virgin in one of its cavities.

Several marked hiking trails are accessible in and around La Loupe to appreciate the charm of the local flora and fauna.

• The weekly market is held every Tuesday morning on the Place du 8 mai 1945.
• From the beginning of February to the beginning of March, La Loupe hosts certain events of the All fire All flame festival which takes place throughout the Perche. On the program: musical evenings, art demonstrations or entertainment.
• Concerts are organized in June on the occasion of the Fête de la Musique.
• A fireworks display is offered in mid-July to celebrate the national holiday.
• In October, make way for the Apple Festival and its entertainment for the whole family.
• A Christmas market takes place in December.
