Commune of the Pays du Vineyard Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, La Haie-Fouassière, or The Hague-Fouassière, takes place on the banks of the Sèvre Nantes, about fifteen kilometers from Nantes and its castle of the Dukes of Brittany. Cradle of Muscadet, it is located on the borders of Vertou, Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine, and La Chapelle-Heulin.
Old, the city of La Haie-Fouassière has always been turned to wine production, unveiling many vines in its surroundings. The so-called Montauban of Brittany in the sixteenth century, and Saint-Jean-de-la-Haie during the French Revolution, is today rewarded with four flowers in the contest of the Towns and Villages of France and welcomes one production sites of the famous Nantes factory, LU.
Tourist, the city is appreciated for its proximity to Nantes and its many cultural and historical sites, but also for its architectural heritage of great interest.
Built in the 19th century, the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church has an elegant neo-Gothic style. It takes place on the remains of an old church of the 14th century which required enlargements. Not far, it is possible to admire the chapel of Rochefort of the sixteenth century.
While strolling in the cities and its surroundings, you will be able to discover several castles and manors like those of Rochefort of the eighteenth century, the Breil, the Hallay and the Ferronnière of the nineteenth century, or that of the Patisseau of the sixteenth century. Several old windmills are also visible on the Breil.
Do not miss the original Espace roundabout, near the LU factory, which has been displaying since the beginning of the 1990s a futuristic setting based on flying saucers and astronauts wearing the emblems of the city. : the fouace, the bottle of Muscadet, and a banner in the shape of Petit beurre.
To enjoy sunny days and the outdoors, head for the green spaces of the city: the garden of the cure, the gardens of Los Corrales, the square of peace, or the garden of the house of wines.
Several marked trails allow to discover the nearby charms on foot or by mountain bike, like the one in the slopes of the Sèvre. Do not miss either to pass on the old port to admire the site where the gabarres formerly loaded the barrels of wine to Nantes.
