Situated 25 km from the viaduct north of the island and on the Pertuis of Antioch, La Brée-les-Bains has all the attractions of a charming small resort: a sandy beach sheltered from the winds by its cypresses, to enjoy joys of family swimming safely. Spaces are specifically reserved for the practice of water sports and a fountain park a hundred posts is ready small boats. At low tide, La Brée-les-Bains offers anglers a fabulous tidal flat rock which combines clams, periwinkles and crabs.
Formerly attached to Saint-Georges-d'Oléron, it's in 1953 that it should obtain its administrative autonomy. This small village, formerly called "The Bray" or "Brennus" was inhabited by fishermen and winemakers. Today is a little less than 800 "Brennas" who live there.
