Located in La Bouteille, in the Aisne, Foigny Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey created in the 12th century by Bernard de Clairvaux and Barthélemy de Jur. Prosperous for a long time, it was destroyed by fire in the middle of the 16th century.
Entirely rebuilt in the 18th century, Foigny Abbey was used as a military hospital after the Revolution. Unfortunately, nothing remains of this glorious past. A chapel was erected on the choir of the old abbey church and it is however still possible to see a mill, the oldest part of which dates from the 12th century.
