The locality, almost entirely surrounded by the national forest of the Pays de Monts, is bordered to the north by the bay of Bourgneuf and is connected to the town chief town distant about 2 kilometers to the east, by the avenue de l' Pier. The seaside part of the village located to the West, faces the island of Noirmoutier from which it is separated by the Strait of Fromentine, which is crossed by the Noirmoutier bridge.
Fromentine is a suburb of the commune of La Barre-de-Monts, in the Vendée department. It is both a seaside resort and a port of embarkation for the island of Yeu.
