Charming little village of Indre-et-Loire, in the Center - Val de Loire region, L'Île-Bouchard takes place about fifty kilometers from Tours and its medieval center, on both sides of the Vienne. It is located not far from Chinon, Richelieu or Saint-Maure-de-Touraine, about forty kilometers from Saumur.
Originally a castrum founded in the second half of the 9th century by a lord who gave it his name, the municipality of L'Île-Bouchard has the particularity of presenting a singular configuration, consisting of two suburbs on either side of the Vienne and separated by an island. Under English domination between the 12th and 13th centuries, it definitively joined the crown of France in the 14th, experiencing significant development from then on.
Even today, L'Île-Bouchard seduces visitors with its authentic charm and atypical style which make it a unique place.
