It is in the heart of Forez, in the department of Loire, that is the charming small village of L'Hôpital-sous-Rochefort. Located in the arrondissement of Montbrison, it is on the old road leading from Lyon to Clermont and Limoges.
Former important post house, L'Hôpital-sous-Rochefort has had a golden age of the Middle Ages, with the creation of a priory, until the 18th century and the change of the route of the Royal way. It was not until the arrival of the railway a century later that the commune resumed an economic life.
Today, L'Hôpital-sous-Rochefort is known for its tourist activity, and especially its medieval architectural heritage. Its location also makes it an excellent pied-à-terre to appreciate all the charms of this region of France.
