Kruth is an Alsatian village in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges, in a valley of the Vosges. Its municipal ban covers 2200 hectares. Part of the forest (1250 ha) is integrated in the Natural Reserve of the Grand Massif Ventron and also in the Natura 2000 network.
Mountain Village (altitude 490 m) bathed Thur Kruth had three "lives":
His first life was pastoral. Its inhabitants, peasants lived culture and livestock. They cleared, built their homes, created hayfields, pastures, the "Kriter". They carved the landscape, and, until the 18th century.
His second life was textiles. The ancestors have become worker-peasants, working in shifts during the day at the plant, taking care of their cows, pigs, chickens and rabbits for the remaining time. Unfortunately, over textile broke in 1988 with the closure of the factory Rissler.
The third life is tourism. Its strengths are many landscape and local communities working to develop structural places, arrange places of relaxation for visitors but also for people. Thus, Lake Kruth-Wildenstein found a more natural look with the vegetation of the banks, rebuilding walls. Nautical and nature activities, botanical and historical discoveries attract local tourism but also tourists from further afield. Thus, Frenz wants to become a four-season family resort, to enjoy the pleasures of winter in the snow and enjoy the summer hiking trails.
The willingness of the municipality is to promote the sustainable development of the region by promoting three axes:
Strengthen the identity of the village and its old and new streets, striking a balance between new and old buildings, and creating urban areas adapted to the terrain.
Maintain green belts, hayfields, rangelands that characterize the village, valleys and appendices.
