Located in the Morbihan, in Brittany, the castle of Josselin is a castle built in the late fifteenth century on the remains of a first medieval fortress. Renaissance style and with many elements of Louis XII style, it is now listed as a Historical Monument.
Residence of dukes of Rohan since its construction, it is today open to the visit and allows to admire many spaces as well as an important artistic collection. The building, impressive, is surrounded by French and English gardens including boxwood and yew cut. A rose garden was also set up in the early 2000s, with 160 roses of about forty different varieties. Open in spring and autumn, the English garden has several species such as rhododendrons, azaleas, old trees or camellias. A picnic area is also available.
Inside, it is possible to admire the rooms on the ground floor, and the castle also has a museum of dolls and toys with a collection started in the course of the nineteenth century. The collection now has more than 5000 pieces including dolls in Breton costume, doll houses, dinettes, board games or even planes.
