Located in the town of Jarville-la-Malgrange, in Greater Nancy, the Museum of the History of Iron traces the history of the manufacture of iron, cast iron and steel, from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century..
Located not far from the Château de Montaigu, it opened its doors in 1966 to highlight the economy that once made the region famous. Within a modern and educational route, the Iron History Museum reveals a one-of-a-kind building designed by designer Jean Prouvé, a great user of metallic materials.
Through the rooms, visitors can notably discover Prouvé furniture, films, models or even drawings retracing the history of the genius of contemporary architecture. They can also admire collections on the history of the steel industry or even works by François Bonhommé, the 19th century painter of industry.
