François Mitterrand was born on October 26, 1916 at 22 rue Abel Guy in Jarnac in a typical Charente house. President of the French Republic from 1981 to 1995, he was Minister eleven times under the fourth republic. Very attached to his birthplace, he made several stays at Jarnac.
Through the living rooms of this house, the furniture and objects kept here for four generations, the visit of the garden and the cooperage, it is the story of his childhood and his family that we discover.
Man of letters François Mitterrand has written several books including "La Paille et le Grain", "L'Abeille et l'Architecte"; a great orator, he wrote his own speeches. Some of his writings are exhibited.
