A municipality bordering Belgium, Hirson is located in the north of Aisne, in the Hauts-de-France region. Surrounded by the forests of Hirson and Saint-Michel, it takes place in the Thiérache, about fifty kilometers from Laon.
The city of Hirson was not really born until the 10th century, under the name of Iricio. The installation of abbeys in the Middle Ages contributed to its development, later slowed down by the wars and plague epidemics. Almost completely destroyed in the eighteenth century after a fire lit by a child, the town reappeared from its ashes a few years later, specializing in forges and tinsmiths.
Today, Hirson is always appreciated for its architectural heritage and its environment, which inspired Dany Boon to shoot his film, Rien à déclarer.
