Municipality of Ille-et-Vilaine, between Vilaine, Canut and Seiche, Guichen takes place halfway between the Channel and the Atlantic Ocean, about twenty kilometers from Rennes. Populated by nearly 8,400 inhabitants, it is located forty-five kilometers from Redon, not far from Guignen, Loéhac and Saint-Senoux.

The one that takes its name from the Celtic Gwik-Ec-Hen, which means Bourg des Sources, was born at the beginning of the 12th century. From this old village, nothing remains today, it has given way to a more modern architecture. Guichen has lived a relatively peaceful history over the centuries gradually taking on the face we know with its important tourist activity.

The city still has today an interesting historical heritage, as well as preserved landscapes and perfect for the practice of outdoor activities.

Built at the very end of the 19th century, the Les Halles building is made of bricks and steel and was completely renovated in the second half of the 2000s. It still hosts many weekly events.

While strolling in the commune, you will be able to admire from the outside numerous castles and manors like the castle of the Massaye of the XVIIe century, the castle of Grésillonais XIVe, the castle of Bagatz of the XVe, the castle of Gay-Place of the eighteenth, or the mansions of the 17th century Quemerais, Provotais and Champ-Gerard XIIIth, or Traveuzot.

Do not miss to admire the Immaculate Conception Church of Pont-Réan while red schist, the Saint-Martin church of the seventeenth century.

But it is especially for its natural heritage that Guichen is appreciated by visitors, including its edges Vilaine furnished or nautical stopping Pont-Réan which allows the practice of paddle or kayak.

The town also has many marked hiking trails to walk or mountain bike. The plans are available in Mairie, on the website of the town or near the Pays des vallons de Vilaine.
