Gournay-sur-Marne is a commune of the Île-de-France region in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis. Limitrophe of Neuilly-sur-Marne or Noisy-le-Grand, it takes place only fifteen kilometers from Paris. Bordered by the Marne, the longest French river, it has been awarded two flowers in the competition of towns and villages in bloom in France.
The commune of Gournay-sur-Marne was for a long time a hotbed of dispute between the crown of France and the greatest lords of the kingdom, as it was considered the site of the royal provostship and the former headquarters of Henri IV during its siege in Paris. The most important crossing of the river between Lagny and Charenton. Renowned for its guinguettes of the inter-war period, the city of Paris also attracted visitors with its natural beach.
Today, Gournay-sur-Marne is mainly known for its castle and its church which still attract tourists from the Paris region.
