Small village in Haute-Loire, about thirty kilometers from Puy-en-Velay, Goudet takes place not far from Saint-Martin-de-Fugères, Alleyrac and Chadron, on the route of several long-distance hiking trails.
Known since Roman times, the commune of Goudet developed from the 9th century around a hermitage. Having become a stronghold in the 12th century, it experienced the horrors of war on numerous occasions, notably during the Hundred Years War and the Wars of Religion. Mainly focused on agriculture, this city in the south-east of France was also known in the 19th century for its square lace called Puy and its goat hair hat factory.
