A medieval building from the 11th or 12th century, Montby Castle has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries. A beautiful mix of varied architecture, it notably reveals a courtyard surrounded by quadrilateral buildings, circular towers, bossed stones, a bread oven, wells and even facades from the 16th and 18th centuries, all surrounded by a garden and ditches. The site, sold as national property during the Revolution, was transformed into an agricultural operation until the middle of the 20th century. It now benefits from registration in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments.
Accessible to the public, Montby Castle is visible during free or guided tours, and every year offers a medieval festival with entertainment.
