Hurepoix typical farming village, Gometz-la-Ville is located on the old Roman road from Paris to Chartres. The church tower dates from the 13th century is visible from afar.

The castle of Belleville in the 18th century was the stronghold of the in-laws of Theresia Cabarus, become "Our Lady of Thermidor" by ending the excesses of the Terror. The nearby town of Gif transformed the castle into a venue for concerts, conferences and exhibitions.

Things to see and do

The church of Saint-Germain (Town Hall Square): The church is attached to the priory of Saint-Clair Gometz-le-Chatel. Built in the 13th and 14th centuries, this church was rebuilt several times but kept his choir and bell tower of origin. It contains a work bench, an altar, an altar and beautiful woodwork of the 18th century. The ceiling of the oldest part offers great cornerstones for various reasons. The Skytrain Engineering Bertin (Bertin Jean roundabout towards Limours): The old railway track "Paris-Chartres by Gallardon" served in the 60 field experiments of the Skytrain Bertin Engineering. It was a vehicle sliding on a cushion of air over a special track in the shape of an inverted T. It is a French invention that has never known commercial but nevertheless benefited for a time, government support, including the Interministerial Committee for Regional Planning (CIAT) that the was retained in 1967 with a view to provide services to passengers over distances ranging from 100 to 500 km at speeds of 250 to 300 km / h. However, the project was finally abandoned in favor of the TGV. This former railway track is now used to control the deviation.
