The Ruffaud pond is an exceptional natural site, already present on the Cassini map made around the year 1750 in the middle of the 18th century. This pond with an area of about 25 hectares, with about 5 kilometers of shoreline, is part of the Ruffaud estate with an area of just over 60 hectares. The pond is surrounded by a deciduous forest, in particular very beautiful oaks. Beautiful walks await you on the trails smelling of the undergrowth and the mushroom. The pond is located in the town of Gimel-les-Cascades and its banks in the town of Saint-Priest-de-Gimel.
If you like the calm of unspoiled nature, come and stroll on the banks of the Ruffaud pond and in the surrounding forest. In 2018, swimming was abolished to make way for fishing stations, in particular for carp fishermen. Entry is prohibited to the public between the building and the first clearing, on the other hand all the rest of the area is accessible to walkers while respecting the fishermen and their fishing posts.
