Small town of Doubs, in Burgundy, Franche-Comté Gilley takes place about fifty kilometers from Besançon, in the Republic of Saugeais. It is located near Montbenoît, Arc-sous-Cicon and Fournets-Luisans.
Of ancient origin, the territory of Gilley has developed over the centuries, gradually taking the face that it is today. The town is particularly special to be part of the Republic of Saugeais, a self-proclaimed micronation in 1947 and composed of eleven towns has its own government and a currency.
Gilley today continues to attract visitors with its originality as much as by the interest of its architectural and historical heritage. Its proximity to some of the finest attractions also makes it a popular holiday destination.
