Castle of Gergy

Monument in Gergy

Listed as a Historic Monument, the castle of Gergy, or Meix-Berthaud castle, sits on a terrace overlooking the village and the Saône. This former fortified castle accessible via a rustic porch tower was completely transformed in the second half of the 17th century by Louis Quarré, adviser to the Parliament of Burgundy.

Today, the castle of Gergy consists of a main building with wings behind the facade. It also has outbuildings, as well as a chapel with paneling and a 17th century altar. Inside, you can admire a decoration painted on wood from the 17th century representing a landscape, a bird's eye view of the castle and vases of flowers.
