Regional Museum of Pottery:

This building first presents the evolution of manufacturing techniques of ceramics from the Neolithic to the present and the production of pottery centers Lower Normandy, with all their characteristics: Ger, Néhou, Saussemesnil, Vindefontaine, Bavent, Le Pré d 'Auge, Sees, Noron.
Upstairs are highlighted the different modes of sale applied by potters (fairs and markets, shops, export), and all utilitarian pottery as their use: laundry, butter, milk and its transformations, the conservation of liquids and foods.
The last room contains the results of archaeological excavations undertaken Placître around the model of a typical furnace Ger. A showcase is devoted to the early sandstone, dating from the 14th century and discovered in the Domfrontais / Mortainais.

The piece will be dried and fired in the following weeks at the museum, and will be ready for collection a month later. - Bowl, mask, character ? It's up to you to choose and let your imagination run wild. - At the end of the session, you'll be offered a turning demonstration. You're also invited to explore the museum External link. - The objects created during the workshop are dried and fired at the museum in the weeks that follow (approximately one month). - Reservations required. Ages 4 and up. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

The first part of the Soirée will be storytelling, in partnership with the CM1/Cm² class from the Pierre Sineux school in Saint-Georges-de-Rouelley (teacher Marine Roger), on the theme of potters. Accompanied by the museum animator, the children drew inspiration from books on Ger potters, pottery, life on the farm and museums, so that they could write and illustrate their tale. - The second half of the evening will feature a concert by Ubuntu, a polyphonic women's choir performing traditional songs from around the world. At a time when the need for tolerance and openness is felt as a necessity, the Ubuntu choir will take you on a journey to different lands : a unique musical experience that will enable you to travel the world and discover new cultures. - Meanwhile, the museum ? S ceramics mediators will be offering raku firing demonstrations.

Exposition "Il y a 80 ans, la Libération de Ger"

To mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Ger, we've put together a collection of documents, testimonies, photos and objects recounting this period. Recount life in Ger and the Bocage during the Battle of Normandy and the Liberation. Who were the civilian and military victims whose names appear on the Monument aux Morts ? What was the village like before the bombings ? How was it rebuilt ? Where were the prisoners, and how did their families live ? - Inauguration : Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. - Open to the public : Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ? during the week, by appointment : 06 61 53 22 02.
