Gaillac-Toulza is a small village, the Toulouse urban area, located 49 km south of Toulouse.
It is a common 4040 hectares including 550 wood. It has a population of 1200 inhabitants in the town, two hamlets "Escayre" and "St Julien" and in the countryside. It comes in the form of an irregular hexagon, which develops over a range of 10 km from north to south and 8 km from east to west. The village is at an altitude of 235 m.
This village was built in the 12th century on the edge of Calers which is a tributary of the Ariège by the Cistercian monks of the Abbey of Calers nearby. It was destroyed during the Albigensian war, rebuilt and destroyed again fortified in the 16th century during other wars of religion.
